Torsion Bar
Torsion bar from the 2011 Force India VJM04 F1 Car, as driven by Paul Di Resta and Adrian Sutil
A torsion bar is a type of suspension spring. It is a metal bar with one end fixed to the chassis, and the other is connected (via a linkage) to the wheel. The springing effect comes from twisting the torsion bar due to the metal's natural resistance to being twisted and the spring loading can be altered by adjusting the length of the bar.
