Rear right soft Pirelli F1 race tyre, from prior to 2017
Pirelli has been the exclusive, sole tyre supplier for Formula 1 since 2011 and produces highly specialised dry, intermediate, and wet weather tyres. For dry conditions, Pirelli produces a range of slick compounds, categorised as "hard", "medium" or "soft", recognisable by the colour of their sidewall. A red sidewall denotes the tyre as a soft compound, which provide maximum grip and the fastest lap times but degrade the quickest.
